New in Simply Safe Dividends: Funds now included in sector weights, all columns visible on mobile, and more!

We have a few features hot off the press to share with you. Let's dig in...

Funds now included in your sector weights

A lot of customers have asked to have funds, especially sector-specific funds, included in their portfolio's sector weights.

Today, we've made that happen!

Thanks to a new partnership with Morningstar, we're able to break out all funds (not just sector-specific funds) into their sector components. In turn, the sector weights of funds you own are now baked into the overall sector weights of your portfolio:

Here's an example to illustrate how we account for funds: say you own $100 of SPY, an S&P 500 ETF. Roughly 13% of SPY's portfolio is in Healthcare, so we'll say that SPY contributes $13 to your portfolio's exposure to Healthcare.

Bonus: we redesigned the sector drilldown page to include the same columns as in your portfolio's main table view. (Previously, you had access to only a few columns.) Here's the new look:

All columns visible on mobile

If you use the site on your phone, you may have noticed that your portfolio's table view displayed only a few columns: ticker, price, and dividend yield.

Not ideal if you're wanting to analyze one of the other 38 columns we offer!

Starting today, you'll have access to all the same columns on your phone that you do on your tablet or computer. Here's the new look:

Improved dividend alerts for foreign stocks

If you own a non-US stock like BTI (British Tobacco), you may have received some confusing dividend alerts from us in the past.

Long story short, we had access to dividend amounts in USD only, which led to noisy fluctuations due to exchange rate volatility.

Confusing dividend alerts be gone!

We've fixed the problem by recording dividends of popular foreign stocks in their local currency. For example, BTI's dividend history now looks clean with amounts listed in British Pounds:
Going forward, owners of BTI and other popular foreign stocks will receive dividend alerts from us with clear indications of increases (and cuts), sans exchange rate volatility.

That's it for now!
